Abstract:

Freeport at Texas where located the mouth of Brazos river, has been eroded severely. According to the archived photographs of Google-earth, both sides of the mouth have been suffering erosion and reworking, alternatively, especially after the events of flooding and thunderstorms. Tide, river discharge amount, precipitation rate, wind direction and speed, etc. are all possible factors that may have an impact on the behavior of coastal beach and dune. Meanwhile, as it is an open public beach as well as wetland trail and bird observatory, it plays an important role in the whole ecosystem in the local area. Thus, this article aims to collect the geographic information data, on the one hand to relate the environmental factors with terrestrial laser scanning(TLS) point clouds detected changes in various season and year periods, on the other hand to serve as a proof about how the change of beach to induce a fluctuation in local tourism, bird migration or fish catching, etc.
